St. Barts’ Le Barthelemy Hotel & Spa and sister property Le Barth Villa Rental have teamed with Coral Restoration St. Barth to help regenerate the island’s surrounding reefs. Now, guests who stay at either property can book a snorkel or dive session with conservationists and help replant coral across the island waters.
“Bringing guests under the sea to experience the delicate state of the coral habitats and species and first-hand rehabilitating the reef will not only help to regenerate nature but also to inspire more impactful environmental stewardship and contributions toward protecting what we love,” said Sebastien Maingourd, regional general manager of Le Barthelemy Hotel & Spa and Le Barth Villa Rental.
Guests also have the option of “adopting” a coral, for $109 per adult and $54 per child, with proceeds going to Coral Restoration St. Barth.
The properties have been a partner with the restoration group since its 2016 opening and have donated more than $65,000 to local environmental organizations. The Le Barth team also participates in training sessions with the coral restoration group to learn how to convey to guests the importance of protecting the reefs, for example, encouraging them to use reef-safe sunscreen.
