AmaWaterways unveiled two itineraries that its new ships in Colombia will sail next year on the Magdalena River.
The seven-night Magic of Colombia and Wonders of Colombia cruises will sail between Cartagena and Barranquilla. Both itineraries will be available on the AmaMagdalena and the AmaMelodia.
The 60-passenger AmaMagdalena will launch on March 30, 2024, and the 64-passenger AmaMelodia on June 19, 2024.
Itinerary highlights will be celebrating Carnival in Barranquilla with exclusive live musical performances for cruise guests, historical walking tours in towns like Mompox, and birdwatching tours. There will also be a visit to the village of Palenque, the first “free town” for former African slaves in the Americas.
Medellin, Cartagena and Panama City tours available
Pre- and post-cruise land tour packages will be available for guests looking to extend their stay in Colombia. Pre-cruise journeys will visit Medellin and Cartagena, and post-cruise journeys will visit Panama City, Panama.
In Medellin, guests will have three nights before their cruise to enjoy local cuisine, visit innovative neighborhoods like Comuna 13 and experience the coffee scene on a coffee tour.
In Cartagena, guests will explore the city’s royal history and heritage on a walking tour of the famed walled city as well as excursions to the Gold Museum, Caribbean Naval Museum and San Felipe Castle.
The post-cruise, three-night adventure in Panama City includes the Amador Causeway, the historic buildings of Panama La Vieja and the Panama Canal. Guests will also have the chance to visit the tropical rainforest of Chagres National Park and learn about the indigenous Embera people.
Reservations are open, and fares start at $3,599 per person based on double occupancy.
