American Express plans to open a Centurion Lounge in Newark Airport’s new Terminal A.
The 17,000-square-foot lounge is expected to open in 2026. Its indoor terrace will overlook the airfield with views of the Manhattan skyline.

In addition to the usual amenities like a cocktail bar, local-inspired cuisine, workstations, seating areas and WiFi, the Centurion at Newark Airport will feature a piano lounge to celebrate New Jersey’s jazz history. The lounge will also house a space for families with small children, restrooms and shower suites.
“The Centurion Lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport is a strong addition to our global network, giving eligible Card Members a taste of New Jersey’s history while delivering the premium experience and amenities that have become synonymous with the Centurion Lounges,” said Audrey Hendley, president of American Express Travel (No. 7 on Travel Weekly’s 2023 Power List).

American Express said it is the first credit card company to announce plans for a lounge at Newark Airport. Terminal A opened in January.
Port Authority of New York & New Jersey chair Kevin O’Toole described the lounge as “a fitting capstone to an already world-class facility.”
