Chateau Louise de La Valliere, a new five-star hotel in France’s Loire Valley, opened this fall as part of the Relais & Chateaux collection.
Located near Tours and Amboise, the 16th-century chateau has been transformed into a boutique hotel with 20 rooms and suites, a fine dining restaurant and a spa.
The restoration of the chateau was carried out by interior designer Jacques Garcia, and the decor includes period furnishings, paintings, tapestries and objets d’art.
The L’Amphitryon restaurant, named after a Moliere comedy, offers a lavish, multicourse tasting menu in a setting inspired by the pageantry of the 17th and 18th centuries and is overseen by chef Maxime Lesobre.
The La Rosee spa is located on the edge of the woods and comprises five dedicated treatment rooms, a Jacuzzi, a sensory shower and a halotherapy space.
The 47-acre park is home to two-century-old trees, a Fig Conservatory and a park planted with roses.
The staff wears period dress and recreates the historical era’s rituals and customs.
