A new viral travel hack may be the trick to your next flight with little ones.
Nicola Knox, a mom blogger and traveler from Calgary, Canada, recently shared her top travel tip when flying with her children: bring painter’s tape on the airplane. The mother of two shared how the painter’s tape can be used in a variety of ways to help keep her children occupied, as well as functionally help make the trip more pleasant.
“I swear to you. It’s great on the plane but also on vacation. Label the kid’s cups, a bandaid for when your toddler ‘really needs one,’ Knox wrote in the caption of the video.
In the video, which has over 88,000 likes, Knox describes using the painter’s tape roll as an extra cup holder, and the tape itself as a truck bridge, napkin bib, snack holder, counting device, and window sticker.
“It’s forever the ‘weird” thing I bring on trips,'” she added, noting that the tape can also be used as a safety tool to block off locks and drawers.
“Inflight entertainment that we never thought of! Very creative,” the official WestJet Airlines account commented on the video.
Another traveler just exclaimed “This is brilliant”, and others called Knox a “genius”.
However, some commenters did note the potential of extra waste or a headache for the cleaning crew. (So here’s you’re reminder to clean up before landing.) For what it’s worth, painter’s tape is specifically designed to not leave damage or residue on a variety of surfaces, according to The Home Depot.
