IHG Hotels & Resorts said Yucatan hotel El Gran Encomendero will be a member of its Vignette Collection.
Construction is scheduled to start on the 83-room hotel in early 2023.
El Gran Encomendero is Vignette Collection’s first signing in the Americas. The hotel will be built in Valladolid, about 100 miles west of Cancun and about 25 miles west of the Chichen Itza ruins.
IHG said the hotel will “deliver an elegant guest experience rooted in regional culture, highlighted by luxurious rooms.” Plans call for a restaurant and bar, a rooftop pool, a spa, a fitness center and 1,600 square feet of meeting space.
IHG launched the Vignette Collection in August 2021.
The company says Vignette Collection hotels “offer a one-of-a-kind environment for guests seeking rich and varied independent stay experiences.” The first hotels to join the collection were Hotel X Brisbane Fortitude Valley in Australia and Sindhorn Midtown Hotel Bangkok in Thailand.
Three hotels in Portugal and one in Austria will soon join Vignette, and IHG recently finalized a signing for a property near Victoria Falls in Zambia.
