Queen Elizabeth’s Custom Range Rover Could Be Yours — for Less Than You’d Think
Regal driving indeed.
Royal fans looking to get their own little piece of the monarchy can now not only purchase it, but they can drive it too.
A third-generation, 2004 L322 Range Rover once used by Queen Elizabeth is going up for auction in November via Iconic Auctioneers for £50,000 to £60,000 (about $61,000 to $73,000). Far less expensive than you’d pay for a non-royal version of this car, the Queen’s vehicle is in supremely good condition and includes its original Epsom Green exterior paint and Sand Hide interior. According to the auction site’s listing, the car also comes with a modified front grill with covert lights, as well as front and rear seat covers.
Additionally, it comes with specifics only made for the Queen’s cars, including dual rear window switches and rear grab handles to “assist with entry and exit” so she could do so gracefully.
“Attempts have previously been made to clarify early ownership with various authorities but, as with any vehicles of this nature, it is almost impossible to achieve a result,” the auction site explained. “Pleasingly, however, video footage of HM Queen Elizabeth driving this particular Range Rover has now been located with the number plate clearly visible, ending earlier assumptions and confirming its heritage.”
The Queen had a well-documented relationship with the car brand. She even bestowed a Royal Warrant on the company in 1951. And upon her passing, Land Rover issued a statement saying in part, “The passing of Her Majesty the Queen has left everybody at Jaguar Land Rover deeply saddened, and our thoughts and condolences are with the Royal Family at this time. Our relationship with The Queen has been a source of great pride for all of us at Jaguar Land Rover.”
The car up for auction currently has just under 110,000 miles on it and has been fully serviced regularly since its purchase.
“Remaining in excellent condition throughout and with confirmed Royal ownership, this is one Range Rover that has, and will, stand out from the crowd,” the auction site explained. “Your early inspection is welcomed and encouraged to fully appreciate the opportunity on offer.”
