Mahali Mzuri, the luxury tented safari camp in the Masai Mara, has reopened its doors.
The camp, owned by Richard Branson and part of the Virgin Limited Edition collection of properties, has a robust set of safety measures in place and says it is well prepared to welcome guests during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mahali Mzuri is located in the northern region of Kenya’s famous Masai Mara ecosystem in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy.
Jon Brown, managing director of Virgin Limited Edition, commented: “We have been welcoming back our resident Kenyan guests for the past month and so we are very excited that airlines such as Kenyan Airways will resume flights once again in October and allow our U.S. guests to visit us, too (subject to a negative Covid-19 test from the past 96 hours).”
Brown said the Covid safety measures means there are some slight changes around the camp but added that they won’t interfere with the experience. “Guests can even stay at camp on a longer stay ‘work from home’ basis with the peace and serenity of the Kenyan bush as their backdrop, and the thrill of a game drive when it’s time to pack up work at the end of the day,” he said.
The camp opening was just in time for the great wildebeest migration. With 12 luxurious tented suites, Mahali Mzuri offers an intimate experience.
Rates start from $945 per person, per night during low season, based on double occupancy. Rates include twice-daily game drives, all meals and drinks, transfers from the Olare Orok airstrip and more.
For those looking to have complete privacy and seclusion, Mahali Mzuri is also available for full camp bookings. Exclusive-use rates start from $15,000 per night for up to seven tents based on double occupancy, accommodating up to 14 guests at any one time. For larger parties of up to 24 adults, all 12 tents can be booked for $21,540 per night, based on double occupancy.
