With a whopping 724 million Instagram posts tagged with #travel, there’s no doubt that the social media app is one of the best ways to spark travel inspiration. Vacation rental company Vrbo agrees, and recently revealed its top five most popular private vacation homes on Instagram.
The Columbus, North Carolina, Green Creek Shipyard 2.0 container home at the top of the list is chock full of unique — and photogenic — amenities. That includes a dining table made out of an oversized charcuterie board, night stands made of Jack Daniels barrels, and most impressively, its own waterfall with a swinging daybed over the water. The property was built by the Schlabach siblings, who admit that “plenty of healthy debating” went into designing the creative elements of the home.
Next is a sprawling five-bedroom ski chalet, right in the middle of Vail, Colorado, walkable to the ski resorts, as well as area dining and landmarks. With more than 5,000 square feet over five floors, the cozy home also has an outdoor fire pit, multiple patios, a hot tub, and a two-car garage.
It’s followed by a Texas tree house called The Elf’s Aerie in the Lost Pines Shire, an elevated glamping experience in Paige that’s primed for both family adventures and romantic getaways. A 360-degree deck raised will make you feel like you’re floating atop the forest canopy. And furry friends can also come along for the trip since it’s dog-friendly without any extra surcharges.
Next up is another cozy getaway, this time up in Woodstock, New York, at The Maverick. The secluded home with a distinctly mid-century modern feel is filled with top-notch amenities, like Eames furnishings and other MCM features, and has seven skylights to make you feel like you’re truly part of the surrounding woods. But the beauty is that it’s also just five-minutes from the heart of Woodstock.
The final entry on the list is a modern tree house in Branson, Missouri, Tree + House at Indian Point. The elevated home has 20-foot-tall glass walls for a seamless immersion into the area, with views of Table Rock Lake. As proof that Instagram inspiration is a solid way to find your next stay, one recent guest said, “The pictures are exactly what you get in this fabulous little home.”
