The best way to spread Christmas cheer is … a great flash sale on flights to Europe. And Icelandic airline Play is doing just that in time for the holiday season.
The low-cost carrier has flights to Reykjavik, Iceland, starting at just $79, and flights to popular cities in Europe — like London, Amsterdam, Dublin, and Paris — starting at just $99, the carrier shared with Travel + Leisure. (Play operates a “hub-and-spoke” model in which all flights connect through Reykjavik before heading on to other destinations.)
The sale, which must be booked by midnight ET on Dec. 8, is valid on flights from now through April 2024. The discounted flights are available from each of Play’s gateway cities in the United States: Baltimore, Boston, New York (via New York Stewart International Airport), and Washington D.C.
“This year, we experienced an incredible turnout of passengers with our highest consumer demand since operations began in the U.S. We wanted to give our passengers the gift of even more affordable flights so they can plan a dream trip or spontaneous getaway with us,” Birgir Jónsson, Play’s CEO, said in a statement shared with T+L. “With flights as low as $79, travelers can squeeze more trips into their holiday season or 2024 without adding to their transportation budget.”
The low-cost carrier charges for everything from checked bags to food and drinks. Those who book the sale will receive one of the airline’s “Basic Bundle” tickets, which allows passengers to bring a small personal item with them but does not include a carry-on bag. Travelers can purchase a carry-on bag starting at $67.
