Low-cost carrier Breeze Airways may soon expand beyond the United States with international flights.
The airline, which was founded in 2021 and has since rapidly expanded, is now seeking approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to eventually fly to international sun destinations and parts of Europe, CEO David Neeleman told Reuters.
Neeleman told the wire service international flights would allow the airline to take advantage of “peak of the season” travel to places like Ireland.

Breeze Airways also recently launched a new route to Plattsburg, New York, which sits just south of the Canadian border and about 60 miles from Montreal.
The CEO, who previously told T+L the airline’s goal is to fly to destinations other airlines don’t serve, echoed that same sentiment to Reuters.
“These pockets of pain that are being created, because either there is no air service there, it’s gone away completely, or it’s just regional planes going to hubs, has created hundreds and hundreds of market opportunities for us,” he told the wire service. “The market has changed dramatically and it has created big opportunity for us.”
The comments came as Breeze announced Wednesday that it’s added Ogden, Utah to its roster with flights to Orange County-Santa Ana, California, starting on Feb. 21, 2024, the airline shared separately with T+L.
“Today, Breeze is writing a new chapter for Ogden – one in which its residents get access to simple, affordable, and convenient air travel to highly desirable destinations like Orange County,” Breeze Airways’ President Tom Doxey said in a statement.
Breeze currently flies to 45 cities in 27 states, but does not fly to any international destinations or outside of the contiguous U.S. The airline operates a fleet of both Embraer 190 and 195 aircraft as well as Airbus A220-300 aircraft, and uses a low-cost model with three fare options: “Nice,” “Nicer,” and “Nicest” (which includes Breeze Ascent, which comes with perks like checked baggage, complimentary snacks and beverages, and in-seat AC power and USB and USB-C charging ports).
