Groundbreaking for a $352 million resort/residential/marina project has taken place for Montage Cay in Abaco, Bahamas.
Montage Cay, slated to open late next year, will feature 50 all-suite accommodations and a limited number of private Montage residences. Each suite will include luxury, outdoor amenities, such as plunge pools, outdoor showers, private gardens and lounge areas. The marina will have 47 slips and will accommodate vessels up to 110 feet.
The project is a redevelopment of the 53-acre former Matt Lowe’s Cay.
Amenities for the resort include an all-day restautrant, a dinner-only eatery, two beachfront bar and grills and pool bars as well as a spa cafe and a juice bar. It will also have a full-service spa, health-and-fitness programs and Montage’s Paintbox Children’s Club for ages 5 to 12.
The project is a partnership between developer Sterling Global and California-based Montage International, whose brands include Montage Hotels and Resorts and Pendry Residences.
Montage Cay features white-sand beaches and is a 10-minute boat ride from the town of Marsh Harbour. It’s also accessible by sea plane.
“We are pleased to be partnering with the team at Sterling Global to bring Montage Cay to life and introduce our first Caribbean resort,” said Alan J. Fuerstman, founder, chairman and CEO of Montage International. “Montage Cay has been designed to take advantage of the island’s natural beauty, while offering guests Montage’s signature amenities and service.”
