You’re next Uber ride could go towards a future Marriott hotel stay.
The ride share company and hotel are teaming up to offer 1,000 points until to travelers who haven’t who linked their Uber and Marriott Bonvoy accounts yet until Dec. 31.
While the 1,000 bonus points won’t cover a night stay at a hotel, they could come handy to increasing the account’s balance overall. For reference, Travel + Leisure recently spotted rates at the Courtyard Orlando Lake Buena Vista at Vista Centre for 12,000 points, and the Four Points by Sheraton Nashville – Brentwood for 15,500 points per night.
Marriott shared with T+L that over 5.5 billion Marriott Bonvoy points have been earned by members through this partnership since it began in April 2021.
“Collaborating with Uber has allowed our members access to more ways to earn points nearly every day, whether it is taking a ride or ordering groceries,” Marriott’s Senior Vice President of Global Loyalty David Flueck said in a statement to T+L.
Program participants earn 3 points per dollar on Uber rides, anywhere, and 2 points per dollar whenever they use Uber Eats. When checked in to a Marriott Bonvoy affiliated hotel, guests can earn 6 points per dollar on food or grocery orders with Uber Eats. More details and the full terms and conditions are available on Marriott’s website.
Travel industry companies have increased partnerships with rideshare companies, and restaurants to provide reciprocal loyalty benefits.
For example, Lyft has a similar arrangement with Hilton Hotels, where riders can earn 3 Hilton Honors points for every dollar spent on Lyft rides in the United States and Canada.
In 2022, Delta Air Lines announced a partnership with Starbucks where passengers could earn Delta Sky Miles in addition to Starbucks Rewards points when using the Starbucks loyalty program when traveling during a Delta itinerary.
